We have three Barbs (and two Donnas) joining us on our wonderful cruise.  In order to reduce confusion, please use the first initial of your last names when you place your name on your swaps, or entering contests.

I just checked and the last name initials are all different.  Phew!  What a relief.

Please make 35 cards for the swap.  You can make your cards any size, shape or style.  Don't worry if you are a beginner card maker.  Your Sailing with Scissors friends will be glad you participated.  Simple cards, complicated cards or "anything in between cards" are welcome.  Please don't sign the inside of the card because your swap pals may use the cards to send to their family/friends.  Instead, please place a post it note on the back of the card with your first and last name (we have three Barbs in our group) and email address if you wish to remain in contact with your cruise friends.
In addition, I will be posting all cards on this blog so the whole world can admire your creativity.

Sailing with Scissors Sold Out! Our Group is now Closed!

Hello Sailing with Scissors Friends
It's official this time.  We are sold out.  We had a few rooms become available because of people having to cancel because of medical and family issues.  However, these spots have now been booked.

To mark this happy (record number of friends booking with us) and sad (no more room) occasion, Jessie and I ate our favourite shrimp.  Donna doesn't like shrimp.

Swap News!

Hello Swap Friends

Jessie has had a few questions about the swaps we will doing on our fabulous cruise, so here is the scoop:

Please make 35 cards for the card swap.  This swap will be capped at 35 participants.

Please make 25 tags for the technique tag swap.  We would like to have more people join us for this fun swap.  If we do get more interest, we will update the blog.
***Also, please email Jessie which technique you wish to do.  In this way, we won't have any duplicate techniques.

Please only bring one new embellishment (or one new package) with a value of $5 for the embellie swap.  Jessie had a great idea to update our old wood mount game from the past.

Everyone is registered for the free Make And Take which will be awesome.  Please also come to the marshmallow game.  It is also free and you will receive items that you will need for your classes.
No marshmallows were harmed in the development of this game which does not really involve marshmallows.

Don't worry about sending in trivia questions about yourselves.  Jessie will be switching up this game.

Pre-Cruise Meet and Greet at Making Memories with Scrapbooking in Burnaby

Hello Sailing with Scissors Friends,
The wonderful owners of Making Memories with Scrapbooking in Burnaby have graciously allowed our Sailing with Scissors group to meet the early evening at the store before our sailing day.  You will have an opportunity to meet new people as well as catch up with alumni from the previous Sailing with Scissors cruises.
Also, you can stock up on adhesives or other scrapbooking supplies you may need.

You spoke!  We listened!  We wont be making a make n' take at the event but we will be doing a fun quick project.

After the event, we will be going out for dinner at a local eatery.  Please email Jessie if you interested in joining us for dinner so she can reserve seating at the restaurant.

Just in case this is your first time joining Sailing with Scissors, please note you will receive a newsletter each evening filled with interesting stamping and cardmaking tips.  They are lots of fun.

Glitter Brush

Hello Glitter Class Participants
I had a couple of inquiries about the blush brush to bring for the class.  This brush is a makeup brush that you can find at the cosmetic counter of your favourite drug store.  In fact you can buy them at your local dollar store.  Here are a few pics that may help you out:

Here are a few more updates:

We still have room available.  If you know anyone who has been hemming and hawing about Sailing with Scissors, tell him or her to contact Donna.

Please make the number of cards and technique tags indicated on the information sheet mailed to you.  Even if more people book the cruise, we will still be fine.

Regarding the instructions for the tags, please place your name on the instructions so we all know who made which fabulous technique.  Please also try to make your instructions the same size as your tag.  It will look neater.  However, if your instructions are lengthy, don't worry about it.  Make them as long as necessary.  Also, please paper clip each instruction to each tag.  Jessie has a fun way of doing a more permanent adhesion but that's a surprise.

Here is some new news:

We will do a group photo after the last formal night dinner.  We will find a staircase somewhere on the lovely ship to take some great group photos.  Hopefully, the cruise dancing staff don't decide to break out in a musical number on the same staircase like they did in Hawaii.  Yikes!

Scan N Cut for Christmas?

No....well you're in luck!  Castle Sewing Centre has three Scan N Cuts in their inventory at this moment.  Our incredibly fabulous travel agent, Donna, is also a Scan N Cut expert for Castle's Sewing.  She can give you a very cool demonstration.
Here is a very cool fact about Castle's Sewing.  If you buy any type of machine from their store, the employees will give you tutorials on how to operate your machine for as long as you own it.  I had three tutorials on how to work the automatic threader on my sewing machine.  The really nice customer service person told me to call them if I have trouble with any other feature of my sewing machine.  Whoa!  You don't get service like this anywhere, now a days.

Donna is in in the process of sending out the mail-outs to all of you.  In your envelope, you will have the class list, the free events list, a demo of a tag from our wonderful Jessie, and the card necessary to attach to embellie, if you're doing the embellie swap.

On the last page of the package is the "Sign-Me-Up Checklist".  Please review everything on this list since you will have to do some homework to participate in some of the free events.
